Aspinwall Church has worked with global missions under the vision of its Pastors since 1952. Not only does Aspinwall Church find it a priority to Connect our Community to Christ, but we understand the global impact of Connecting our World to Christ.
Where is your money going?
For the last 50 years, our church, along with many other organizations and churches have sent a 40-foot, semi-truck container full of food, clothing, medical supplies, housewares, music equipment, generators, and even motor bikes to nations to help support communities. Some of the locations our church has sent the container is: Liberia, Africa, Jamaica, Haiti, India, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican Republic.
In Jamaica, we have many churches and a school that our church helps support. We help provide salaries to the teachers at the school and food for the children. While our groups are there, we spend time participating in teaching in the school. We sponsor Pastoral care conferences, provide study resources, and provide meals. The exchange rate for US dollars to Jamaican dollars is approximately $143 Jamaican to $1 US dollar. However, the cost of living remains as high as American standards. The country is impoverished with many hurricanes that have destroyed tourism, and the rebound from the world pandemic has left many destitute for medical care, housing, and jobs to support their families.
In India, we give monthly support to the pastor's and churches. While the tariffs are very high to send supplies over to India, we elect to buy supplies while we are there. The US dollar exchange for rupees is $1 US dollar to 83 Indian rupees. While they live in communities where costs are low, their wages are equally as low. The average household makes $15 US dollars per month, which is approximately 1245 rupees per month. With food, rent, school fees, and transportation costs, the families in India do not typically have a savings or ability to pay for anything above their basic means of living. The people are a humble people who do not seek for gain while we are there. They feel appreciated and blessed just to have missionaries come to visit them. We supply the churches with 2-weeks of groceries, a love offering gift, and provide teaching materials to them. We visit a leprosy colony while we are there and minister to the people who are the 'forgotten' of the world. Their families drop them off at the colony and never visit again. We enjoy singing, worshipping, and giving a love offering to the facility to help them.
In Liberia, we have recently visited the works in this nation. In 2023, we sent our 40-foot container to this nation, and we will send it again in 2024. The needs are great. When we arrived, we learned our orphanage and village had little to no funds, and the children had not eaten in two days. Our hearts were broken at the sight of the children gobbling up the rice meal and snacks our team brought. They were eating out of wash basins with their hands. We provided utensils, dishes, and have received support monthly to ensure our children are eating several meals a day! Our churches warmly welcomed us and their needs are great as well! Their current daily wage is $3.50-$5.50 US dollars per DAY. The country is known as the poorest country in the world with chronic civil wars making the people suffer greatly from attacks in villages, low food supply, and broken homes.
We were also able to secure the funds to have a water pump for our orphanage and village and purchased a bus to help transport children back and forth to doctors appointments.

In 2024, we have started a campaign to help our orphanage. Each of our children have been financially "adopted" by our church, and beginning in June, we will be supplying each child with $30 per month to help with clothing, medical appointments, school supplies, and food!
